A SMALL TOOL FOR YOUR NETWORK
Unix timestamp converter
Convert Unix seconds or milliseconds to UTC and local time, or convert an ISO date with an explicit time zone to a timestamp.
Ready. Run the tool to see your result.
How to use this tool
- Enter a Unix value with seconds or milliseconds selected, or an ISO date containing Z or a time-zone offset.
- Convert to UTC, device-local time and both timestamp units.
- Keep the unit and explicit time zone when exchanging values across systems.
Unix time counts from 1 January 1970 at 00:00:00 UTC. Seconds and milliseconds differ by 1,000. Include Z or a time-zone offset in date input to avoid ambiguity about local time.
Worked example
Example input
1704067200 · secondsUTC: 2024-01-01T00:00:00.000Z Unix seconds: 1704067200 Unix milliseconds: 1704067200000
Local display changes with device time zone; UTC and the timestamp value do not.
Common questions
Why is the result decades away from the expected date?
A common cause is confusing seconds with milliseconds, which differ by 1,000. This tool does not guess the unit from digit count. Choose seconds or milliseconds for numeric input.
Does this handle leap seconds or nanoseconds?
It uses JavaScript Date with millisecond resolution and ordinary Unix/POSIX-style time handling. It does not provide separate leap-second or nanosecond precision. Dates without a time zone are rejected to avoid ambiguity.
